Spot on. Invoicing late tends to diminish the value of the services provided because the emotion associated with the value has diminished with time.

Finishing a big design project is often quite a relief. I’ve been guilty of leaving the invoicing simply because I was relieved to finished the project and felt that invoicing was the “easy” part of the job and I could invoice “at any time”. Often leaving it weeks before sending it out.

I definately agree. If you want return business, you have to be easy to do business with and if you want your product valued, you need to demonstrate respect for the person buying it.
In my experience efficient invoicing also encourges efficient payment. An added bonus for impressing your clients with your good business processes!
