Last week, I launched The Fortune 8: How to succeed in the web-wise world. This week I’ve been out selling it and encountered unexpected interest from what could be described as new fans in an emerging market. I was guest speaker at the 20 Year Anniversary grading for Northstar Martial Arts, run by my brother Andy. My presentation covered The Five Keys to a Fortunate Life, after which I had the opportunity to sell my book. The following five pictures show what happened.

In picture 1, you can see parents proudly watching their kids prepare for their grading.

In picture 2, the instructors are grading groups of kids. It was so inspiring watching them. I was at the back of the room with a table full of books for sale – to sell to the parents of the kids.

In picture 3, you can see one of the kids came over, grabbed a book and started flicking through it.

In picture 4, you can see just how intrigued he was by the cartoons (the book is fully illustrated).

In picture 5, you can see that he has some friends watching as he reads to them, having called them over. Talk about the power of referral. ;)

It’s not my intention to make too bigger deal out of this, but I just wanted to highlight one of those lovely unexpected moments in the life of an entrepreneur selling his book. Maybe it’s time to work on the Kid’s Edition? ;)

Has anything like this ever happened to you? I’d love to hear about it in the comments below.
